The vehicle was pre-paired for a trip into Botswana. We had to cancel since the second vehicle owner developed medical problems. I would like to join a group of minimum four vehicles to travel to Botswana/Zambia/Namibia in either March 08 of Sept 08. Consider a team building weekend, meet and greet. Wifes and vehicles. Agree timelines, routes etc. Pay deposits. I have been to Botswana in winter 06. Great!!! but very cold and dusty. Cannot wait to see more.

However, I would prefer to travel with older generation Hilux owners. On the previous trip one vehicle develop mechanical problems, even in remote areas we were able to source spares from the locals. Amazing people, amazing country, amazing vehicles.

The Hilux owners that would like to join are requested to consider going to places not to frequently travelled. The photos attached document the time we got stuck in an position that required recovery with the Highrise jack. Great experience, but stressfull. We need to be a team that can do safe and effiecient recoveries. The reason for posting on the website is that one read of so many unfortunate breakdowns. I would like to travel with at least one other SFA Hilux in the group. One reason to be able to exchange things like tyres, other is to have well build and maintained recovery vehicles available. During our trip we recovered an X Trail. My concern was what would recover us if we got stuck. Please contact me if anybody wants to join an privately planned trip.

Hi Willie,

Your trip looks like it was stunning, and your van certainly looks well rigged. Your choice of vehicle is by far one of the best. May I suggest a nice set of 33 inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrains. You will never ever get stuck, and if you do, a quick winch or jack will have you on your way in minutes.

A family of five... in an SFA? You guys must be tiny... That's why I have Chuck Norris...

Kommentaar?

Marketing talk and reviews on Mud Terrains (www):

"The BF Goodrich Radial Mud Terrain ta km tires are the ultimate off-road tire. Gives the traction and confidence to go anywhere, and get back, even through the most extreme off-road conditions. DiggerLugz power through deep gumbo mud, dirt, sand, and over rocks. Tough, aggressive appearance on the bf goodrich radial mud terrain ta km tires. Still just as "streetable," with longer treadlife and lower noise . The Radial Mud Terrain TA KM has TriGard construction for serious durability. An outstanding off-road tire. Tough, aggressive appearance and traction even in extreme conditions."

and

"Mud Terrain
Mud Terrain tyres are usually 80% off road to 20% road biased. Designed for the serious off-roader. A Mud terrain pattern has large gaps between its tread lugs, these provide maximum grip and traction off the road, and if you are using your vehicle for serious off-roading, a MT can’t be beaten. However on road performance does suffer, due to the large gaps between tread lugs, in particular wet breaking distances are significantly longer, so this type of tyre is not recommended for the 4x4 owner who covers significant mileage on the road."

and

"BF Goodrich Mud Terrain A current favourite, it is the only one with 3 ply sidewalls, expect 80 000km on a Discovery."

and

"BF Goodrich tyres are widely regarded as the best 4x4 tyres in the world. They set the standard for all 4x4 tyres where there is a moderate to extreme off-road requirement.

BF Goodrich are very well known for their durability, strength and almost unbelievable mileage potential. They have a cult status in the UK amongst 4x4 enthusiasts and are at the forefront of 4x4 motorsport, being fitted to the Paris-Dakar winning vehicles for 3 years in a row from 2002-2004."

The Mud Terrains are available in a 33 for 15 inch rims...

As ek weer tyres moet koop sal ek weer 33" MTR's koop, want hulle het my nog net goeie diens gegee.

Teerpadry is nie so erg op hulle nie, ek pomp hulle so 2.4 vir teerpadwerk.
