Good day all,

I just acquired a 2008 D4D 3.0 DC 4x2 Hilux yesterday. I must admit being a VW person, I love this bakkie! It has 174,000km with FSH by Toyota and she feels brand new. Current vehicles I own include an 89 MK2 Gti(16vt), Volkswagen CC 2.0T DSG.

Look forward to learning more about the Hilux and any possible issues/preventative maintenance I should look out for.

So guys, last year I sold my my beloved Hilux with apart for the injector issues and clutch replacement gave me a faultless experience. I was hooked from the onset. It went to a good buddy of mine who pestered me for the vehicle, so technically she is still in the family.

On with the new, i was really looking for a 4x4 Hilux but then stumbled across a mint 4x2 Dakar with 50k on the clocks. I fell in love.

I could not deal with the standard sound system so the first mod was a sound upgrade, all done at home.

In went full sound deadening material, a pair of kicker 6.5 splits and co-axials in the rear. Full kicker wiring. Kicker 4 channel and a kicker mono ruining an 8inch L7 square sub behind rear seats.

Sounds amazing.

Looks very impressive. Must sound a heck of a lot better than the standard system!

If only Toyota had fitted a better radio to the Hilux, and we would have been a whole lot better off. I still want to replace mine and add some sound deadening in the doors

yes Radio is the weak point. The sound deadening really helps, also gives the doors a more solid German feel.
