New to the Hilux side of things
Hi Everyone,
I have moved over to the Hilux side of things.
I got a 2012 Hulix Raider 2.7vvti 95000km on the clock.
Unfortunately the bakkie came without a service book. Phoned Toyota and they said they cant see the service history.
The next service is at 100 000km, but I would like to do a service myself to make sure the motor is clean as I dont know if the previous owner kept up with thew servicing.
Please can someone help me with what I need in regards to the service.
Oil : brand and type - fully sinthetic ?
Plugs : what type brand
filters I will get from Midas or so. And I also would like to do the Box and Diff oil change also.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome Bain. Oil: Caltex Delo Gold 15W40 is my preference on both petrol and diesel. Not a big fan of synthetic oil.
Just a question regarding the rest of the parts, you are saving a lot of money by servicing it yourself so why not use OEM (original Toyota) parts?

Hi Bain, Not sure if you are a club member or just forum member but club members get a decent discount at Halfway toyota Northgate, they just saved me a lot of money with my rebuild, up to 23% off and the filter prices are not bad to start with. welcome to the forum

Thanks , It will go for it's normal service as per the service book, but for piece of mind I want to do one myself to know it has new bits.Rigger wrote:Welcome Bain. Oil: Caltex Delo Gold 15W40 is my preference on both petrol and diesel. Not a big fan of synthetic oil.

Oh I have extended warranty, so service needs RMI approved.

I replaced both diffs, t/case and gearbox with OEM oil. Do the search, somewhere on the forum is an oil list

I was driving today and my diff lock light started coming on, it went off now and then while driving but now it just stays on. Any idea what it might be ?
