Hi guys, I am hoping someone can assist me here with sound advice.
I have a Prado 120 with 3.0 KZTE motor with auto transmission.
Stunning vehicle, really love it.
We had entire motor redone in December 2016.
In March this year we went on Holiday and were towing a venter trailer, after about 300km it started developing a miss when the revs were under 2000rpm, above 2000rpm it ran perfect. It also started bulging white smoke out the exhaust.
We finished our holiday and returned back to North west, fuel consumption was still fine.
I then sent it back to the guys who done my motor.
After lots of fighting and arguing I received my vehicle back last week after 7 weeks.
They have removed the electric injector pump and installed a manual pump with cable etc, much to my disgust.
The rev counter does not work now, the vehicle has be revved through the roof before it changes gears in the auto box, it is very heavy on fuel as well.
It sounds good and the miss and smoke have gone but that's it.
I don't want to damage my engine again.
A few people have said this conversion cannot be done successfully on a prado with auto box.
What do I do now? I want my car right?
What could the original problem have been because these guys cant give me a straight answer.
Many thanks

Total guess work. As for gear changes now at high rev's only... they most probably loaded another "mapping" in the EM system.

Re: Prado 3.0 Kzte Diesel issues
Luckily I got the old electric pump back with the vehicle.
Going to send it in to be tested to see if it is really faulty? What else could it be?
Apparently the auto box gets a signal from the electric pump to change gears? Not sure.
Vehicle is no pleasure at all to drive now as engine in high revs all the time.
Really dunno what to do?

I have tried Google and not getting much positive feedback about the conversion to manual pump
I truly am frustrated and just want my vehicle right.

Hi Craig,
Welcome to the forum!
Maybe ask a moderator to combine all your topics on the same issue into one?
Whoever advised on the manual pump must be shot and quartered!
I have a Kz pump somewhere. The pumps all have a code on them - eg E09. AFAIK only a pump with the same code can work on you car/ECU.
Let me know the code and I will have a look.
Enjoy!

Hi Thabo,
The code on pump is E12.
Thanks the help is much appreciated.
I am really at my limit now with these problems, have been fed the one story after the next for 7 weeks and then I get my car back with this conversion.
I really am livid.
Thanks bud

Could the problem not originally be from the ECU that is perhaps starting to pack up?
