Re: Welcome to all the new members
Hi, ya just joined, been really helpful, i have lots of questions but just need to find my way around the website.
i worked for Toyota SA for 8 yrs, of that i spend 2yrs in the lab doing a lot of testing and R&D on paint products and underbody protection including corrosion etc. also destroyed a brand new 2.7 4x4 with accelerated corrosion facility. If any one needs some paint and corrosion issues i could probly help out.

Hi Donovan, and welcome here! I'm sure that with the long lifespan that can be expected of a Lux there are going to be many body rust questions with the older models. Always nice to have someone with advanced knowledge on these issues. Enjoy the forum.

Hi all,
Let me just start to say WOW! This is by far the most informative, heipfuli , site I have ever been on. Kudos to everyone involved.
I recently bought myself a 1985 Hilux D/c 4x4 with a 3y motor in. I will probably have a million questions to ask as I go along ( Thinking of going the 7mge route in the near future) Looking forward to chat to you guys soon...

Hi all,
I have joined today but must confess I have been on the forum quit often and learned a great deal regarding my favourite topic - 4x4. I recently bought a Toyota Hilux 3.0d-4d and are in the process of gearing it up, as the money allow. I will have plenty of questions to ask but first need to get to know the website.
Tot later

G'day All,
I am an Aussie who has been working in various parts of east/west/southern Africa for about 10 years and am now having a bit of a break and travelling in these parts for a while with my young family. Just staying in White River with friends for a couple of weeks while we get set up with a 4x4 camper trailer so we've got somewhere to put all the missus & kids' essentials, and get our Hilux (honorary, I hope) Mitsubishi Delica (Van body on Pajero Chassis, 2.8L turbo diesel) serviced, shocked and trimmed for the journey...
Cheers,
Mick

Re: Welcome to all the new members
Warmest greetings to everyone on this forum!
As pointed out by 'Family Dog' 2 weeks ago, I've been a member for some time (introduced by Hennie Jackson), and whilst I pop in pretty often, I haven't been active. Due to work commitments that's unlikely to change much but if i have something of value to add, it's the decent thing to say hello first!
I'm married, with 2 rug rats (8 and 4), and currently reside in Greenstone Hill (that's near Modderfontein, or Edenvale for the out of towners) - about 9km West of ORTIA. I am self employed, in the Estate management industry. I am an avid off-roader, and usually welcome any opportunity to get into the rough dirty stuff. That being my one passion, aviation is the other, and in any form (except for fling wings - honestly... ).
I currently own a '00 2,7 S/C Hilux, although I have owned; 2,2 Petrol S/C 4x4; 2,4 Petrol D/C; 3 x 2,7 S/C (R/B), 2 x 2,7 D/C (R/B); 2,7 D/C 4x4; and more recently a 4,0 V6 D/C - so 10 Hilux's in total. If I were to stop selling them, I might even have a half decent toy by now! But there are no tablets for stupidity!
I thoroughly enjoy reading the posts on this site, and thank you all in advance for the countless bits of advice i've read without even asking. Next on my agenda is to find a wrap-around bull bar for the 2000 Hilux - unfortunately these are hens teeth, so if anyone knows of one......followed by one of the Snorkels for sale on this forum.
I look forward to meeting with many of you!

Re: Welcome to all the new members
Have got a few projects on my list that I can't wait to get started, I'm sure I'm not the only one that loves spending a good weekend one on one with the lux
She's a 1988 SFA with 251 000km on the clock, came with a few bells and whistles, BFGoodrich tyres, long range tank, fridge etc..
We took it on its first outing over the easter weekend to the Klein Karoo (Wagon Wheel 4x4 and Desert Wind Private Game Reserve) about 200km north east of Cape Town and never had a single hiccup
thumbs up again on a great site!

Hi Josh. Welcome here and hope you enjoy!
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Hi Clinton and welcome! You'll do fine ... just read through the 'tutorials' & TOS on the index page ... browse the forums and choose the appropriate one for your post. If you get stuck / confused, just holler and we'll give you a hand.

I bought a 1980 single cab hilux 4x4 which I found in a township close to
White River. The body is basically rusted through all over but the chassie and
motor etc is perfect to use for a rebuild. The problem im having is that ive tried all over to find a second hand cab and firewall but it seems you just cant find them. The model is still the hilux with the round lights.
Does anybody perhaps know where the best place to look for these parts???
Ill try and post some pics soon.

Want to introduce myself.
Hi guys, I'm new! I've always wanted a Hilux and after saving for years and years I got my brand new 4x4 Double cab Auto 3liter diesel in September 2010. I am sure a Landrover owner paid a "toordokter" to get me because I crashed it last week. 14 800km's on the clock and now it's ruined. I only had one proper off-road trip with it (snow in Lesotho). Seems that the insurance is going to write it off. Please feel free to cry with me.

Hi Oelof,
Welcome to forum with the sad introduction
I sincerely hope no one was injured in that accident, the Hilux looked beautiful before the crash, sad to see it looking like it does in the second picture. Hope you get a new one again! ;)

So ou boompie is 'n erg harde ding. Dink jy kan so half gelukkig wees jy het hom half skrams getref anders het jy dalk bietjie meer as 'n hoofpyn gehad.Witbakkie wrote:Thanks guys.

Re: Welcome to all the new members
Hi guys , I just bought my first Hilux,I got tired of getting stuck on the farm in my 2009 Ford Ranger 4x4, so I sold it to buy this 95 2,4Petrol DC Hilux,it needs a bit of tlc, but after a freeflow exhaust and a good service today, it is already going like a rocket(not that fast though). I am taking it for a new coat of paint next week and to get rid of all the rust. I still have to learn about SFA's and and and, but enjoy the journey. It is nice to see all the good advise and tips on the forum.

Hi guys,
Fetched my new hilux this afternoon and I am already stoked beyond belief. It's a grey d4d DC 4x4 with most of the regular extras. Can't wait to add all sorts of great mods. First up will be a front leveling kit and hopefully bfgoodrich all-terrains. Will post a pic or two soon to show her off

Hello Everybody, Herewith a short intro. I have farm in the Vaalwater area (Limpopo) where I run my Academy for the training of Professional Hunters. I have a 1997 SFA 2.8D S/c that I use for farm work. I recently bought a second Hilux - She is without a doubt the most amazing vehicle known to man! My pics will follow shortly, just hang in there fellow luxers. Even before I joined I have been getting loads of useful info off the site (which also helped me with my recent Hilux purchase). Great to meet you all!
