Nice car!
There is indeed an Ali3n running around in a Surf here, not sure if he has gone back to Mars for the holidays though. I think one or two others as well. Seem to recall a member in Zim has one and also one in Bots (I think...).

Thanks for the info, Eric, I've seen a couple around Jhb, some of which are even left-hand drive.

Yip, the LHD surfs you see are all 4Runners. They were built for the american market. Surfs are all RHD.Owl wrote:Thanks for the info, Eric, I've seen a couple around Jhb, some of which are even left-hand drive.

That is interesting. All the sites I have visited have shown that all 4runners are LHD. Not something major. Just interesting.Owl wrote:Thanks Ali3n.

Some history as I have it. Hilux Surf was sold in the Japanese markets and only second hand Surfs were exported. Surfs were only sold outside of Japan were contries such as the US and Australia but for a short period the 2nd Generation Surf was also sold in the UK. All these were called the Toyota 4Runner.
In 2009 Toyota Japan discontinued the Surf and Toyota USA launched the 5th generation 4Runner and continue to do so with the latest one to be launched in 2014 with 3 different specs namely - SR5 , Trail , Limited.
Trail being the onlt 4x4 with the 4L V6 with Crawl-control...
Damn but I wish it would come to SA as that is a flippen good looking 4x4...

Re: Hilux Surf 2.8D
I just posted a link in the other thread to a UK company called Roughtrax (http://www.roughtrax4x4.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) - they also refer to the RHD 4Runner 3.0 Diesels imported into the UK between 91 & 95.
I checked out the 5th generation on the USA website - it seems to share some styling with the FJ Cruiser.
I've also seen a couple of 3rd generation RHD Surfs running around Jhb & Pretoria, probably via Mozambique or Botswana.....

Re: Hilux Surf 2.8D
So back to work yesterday, to find that I'm looking at the possibility of another overseas assignment...... Unfortunately this means that my Surf will need to be re-homed...... I've placed an ad in the Classified section of the Forum, please check it out if interested.
