Hi all. My name is Chris van Latum. Recently acquired this 1992 Mint condition Hilux 2.2 4X4 Raider and I'm like a child at Christmas. Looking forward to attending training days and other gatherings.

Welcome Chris!

She's a beaut, arguably the best model Hilux ever built - you can be proud! Keep an eye on the forum for events being organised up your way, the Gauteng guys are a great bunch that will be more than willing to assist with advice on trails. :winkx:
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Welcome Chris, nice looking Lux!!
Just a note, if you leave the hi lift jack there exposed to the elements, chances are it won't work when you come to need it. Consider a bag, those sprung pins need to be spotlessly clean to function properly.

If I may be as bold as to share my experience with a high lift jack -

DO practice using it. And when doing so use proper wheel stops. In my case the handbrake was not enough to hold the Hilux. I nearly had bad damage to my bonnet ... :o: :shock2:

And then DO make sure you understand the process of switching from Lifting UP, to switching over to lowering the vehicle down ... many people have broken a jaw bone in getting this wrong.

truly stunning piece of kit, but handle it with respect

Welcome Chris.

I had two of these. A S/C and D/C. On road, slow as an ox, and ride just as uncomfortable.
But once you hit offroad, all those slow kidney bashing onroad worries are forgotten when you see how capable that little 2.2 engine is.
Just learn to use it to it's full low end torque potential.

Thanks so much for that useful info. As sexy asit looks on the Bull-bar, I am going to mount it behind the back seat. I will give it a proper service. A good mate is proficient with these and is going to show Me all the ins and outs. Thanks again.
