Good Day Guys

I traded this in on a Land Cruiser 3 weeks ago. The cleanest 17 year old vehicle that I have EVER seen 1990, when I started selling used cars.
One of those rare beauts that I just cant believe I'm selling. This is NOT a for sale ad please guys, I just wanted to share the cleanness of this to you.
Unbelievable how some people look after their cars. This does not even have a speck of dust on its dash when I got it. NO spray work. Even the rollbar/bumper/towbar look as if it was bought yesterday.

Ja - daars koper in Slaapstad wat baie belang stel. Dis nou nie asof ek langs die foon sit en wag dat hy my weer bel nie.......ek het klaar weer die canopy afgehaal om die naweek met hom op die farmpie rond te rits.

As mens nou so Lux vat, lekker groot diep drawer system agterin sit, met nice aluminium canopy wat na die kante toe oopmaak, met roofrack op caopy en op cab wat gelyk staan vir pakplek.............

Om een of ander rede is ek MAL oor die ding Chris. Ek gebruik die Cruiser vir weekends, maar het hom weer gebere, die man se canopy afgehaal, en daar gaat ek.
Dalk omdat hy so skoon is - sulke mooi opgepaste karre ry mos maar net anders as die heel nuutstes. Eks in die game, en karre soos die staan dalk maar net vir my baie meer uit as die volgende ou.

As ek die spasie gehad het, het ek dit uit die boedel gekoop !! Daar is darem net "iets" in daai 2,7 ....

^^ That says it all! Keep it - the good 2700 IFS 'Luxes are becoming really scarce.

I know of a '99 one that has only 51,000km on it... immaculate condition too! The owner is not interested in selling it.

Mileage is a soft, serviced 263 000. Amper ingeloop.

George - ek sal kyk na so R 120 000, het hom in Gumtree vir R 130 000 geadverteer, maar net 'n klomp tyre skoppers en kardiewe van Namibie wat belang stel.

Eks innie tjorts hier - lyk my ek het my GX Cruiser verkoop, en daars GEEN manier dat ek amper R 600k gaan betaal vir 'n nuwe 2,8 Hilux DC nie.

Must say, so far I'm pleasantly surprised by the fuel consumption.

Odo stands on 704 km, and the tank is half. That's around 500km tar road at 120km/h, and around 200 km town driving - to work and back, driving around on the farmpie, 4x4 through soft lands on 2 evenings when we went jackal shooting.

The standard tank is 80 litres I think?? Plus that Frontrunner LRT = 60 litres. If I get around 900-950 km range, that means a VERY acceptable 6.5/7 km a litre "combined".

That's more than good enough, and actually a huge surprise to me. I expected 5/6 km/litre combined.

It's quite obvious from the thing you say that you should be keeping it. Fact is that you will probably never find another one for sale in that good condition.

Very true, Mud. This is a 200% perfect 3d car, to use over weekends - fishing, towing a boat, driving around on the farmpie, hunting, etc etc.
Condition is just unbelievable. I'll fill it up and drive to Cape Town now, without even bothering to check fluids.

Kilo's staan nou op 905, hy is nou so net bo empty. Die tenks vat 140 liter..........so hy gee al klaar beter as 6.5 combined cycle.
Sal hom nou nou volmaak........maar lyk of die skedonkie hier by die 7 km/liter gaan gee, wat ek mee meer as happy is.
My Pa't my geleer - as 'n kar lig is op petrol, is die enjin ook reg.

Filled up last night - but this is just IMPOSSIBLE, there must have been an air lock or something, although the 2 tanks can only take 140.5 litres, so that air lock cant be that big anyway.
936 km travelled, about 536 empty tar at 110/120, the rest town driving
121.5 litres of juice used
7,7 km per litre - combined cycle.

But ja, I honestly do'nt even believe this myself, will test again.

Really really a HUGE surprise, I expected something in the region of 6 km/litre max.

I averaged 8.3km/l on a trip travelling to Sani Pass and back at designated speed limits, three adults, at the correct speed limits. So it sounds about right.

Eric, but then the 2700i is lighter than its diesel counterpart - the KZTE......!!

In fact, 8km/litre is as good as it can get on ANY 4x4 DC, even diesel included??

I'd NEVER have believed 8km/litre is possible - but now I've seen it personally, and it actually sounds like this is the norm on the early 2700i.

Must admit I was pleased too, White Fang is stock standard other than OME suspension all round and 31" Duelers.

Going to Durban last year with PraDog (V6, 3.4l AT), with four adults we averaged 8.1km/l going to Durbs, but 7.1 on the return trip, during which we had a heavy headwind/crosswind blowing practically all the way. PraDog also has OME suspension all round with standard sized Duelers.

Went to Vereeniging today to pick up parts from Suzuki, they sent me to Sandton (Marlboro Drive) from there for extra parts at the warehouse.
Left early this morning, too lazy to go fetch another car, I sommer went with the Hiluxie.
+- 750km round trip, I actually pushed the bakkie a bit, 120 - 140 tar road, heavy winds, and the canopy is off...........8,3 km per litre.

(edit - added) True GPS speeds were minimum 100 or so, and I saw 127/128 for quite some time. Speedo over reads by about 10% or so.

You see now! My speeds above were also GPS speeds, but with 31" tyres on the Hiluxes that is pretty much what the speedo now reflects as well, give or take 1% or so.

So I guess you have finally decided to keep this Hilux, they don't build them like this anymore!

Eric, I sold my very very nice but very very heavy 2001 GX EFI, so my "weekend car" is gone.

VERY nice car that, but I must say, I have'nt really missed it.

So - I'm using this Hiluxie as a sort of "interim" weekend car..........but the more I use it, the less I know what should actually replace this now.

What other car can take me to work and back (I dont use my platkar on that farm road) during the week, lets you launch the boat Friday afternoon, lets you shoot a blesbokkie Saturday, fishing again on Sunday, go pick up parts on Monday, and takes 7 drivers to Kempton Park on Wednesday...........at an average of 8 km/litre??

Yes, sure - a new 2,8 Lux can also do that. At almost R 600 000. Or a mint Legend 45 at R 400 000. Or a not so mint D4D at R 300 000.

This Luxie does it all - at R 90 000. AND it has that "feel". AND my daughter can use it in her Matric year (2017), and Jomar in his one (2018). Ek kan nie dat hulle elke dag nuwe Polo's middeldeur ry op daai plaaspad nie.

Lyk of ek al laaaaankal ryk is, so hy't baie status ook

Try R490k....Sinoville Toyota...told the salesman that he was nuts, didn't care if it only had 40km on the clock, still last year's model and not that far off from a new one.

2011 D4D, same dealer, R420k...Amarok across the road ....2011 full house with everything the D4D doesn't have, R380k.

Bottom line:Keep that bakkie !

I have a buyer for it - like in NOW, at R 125 000 or so. But what then??

If I spent another couple $$$ on a nice alu canopy that is easily detachable, this can also be a GREAT once/twice a year West Coast/Transkei breakaway vehicle for the Kwaai Blond and me.

The 2 boys (Jomar 16 and Sev 12) and I also attend the Roof of Africa Rally every year (past 6/7 years in a row now).........we take the scooters, load the Oztent and just chill there for 3/4 days every year. And we go fish at Qwantani every year, maybe 4/5 times. This is perfect for ALL of this - I think even more so than a shiny new one.

Daar was gister 'n pel van my wat my pla vir die Hilux - teen 'n helse prys - R 130 000.

Maar ek klou soos 'n julleweetwat aan 'n duvet. I'm enjoying the HELL out of this Hlux!!

Ek gaan maar iets anders aan hom verkoop......het nou bet nuwe tyres opgesit, en die seat covers ens ens wat ek beste het is nog nie eens opgesit nie.

Moet ek die geld vat en hardloop......?? Nee - ek dink nie so nie. Met R 130 000 gaan ek nie dieselfde een kry nie.

Yip. Kon nie nee se nie Chris - helse prys gekry, en die Koper het 'n Cooper en 'n Champ ook ingeruil waarop ek NOG wins gaan maak.
Aan die einde van die dag, nadat die 2 trade ins verkoop is, kry ek meer as R 160k vir die Lux.
Mens moet maar op 'n stadium "Ja OK" se.....!!

Maar magtig, wat 'n nice DC!!

Ek het nou rerig die DC elke dag van die week gebruik vir ALLES. Van werk tot Kerk tot Fishing tot Whatever.

My volgende "allrounder" kar gaan baie beslis weer 'n Hilux wees. Om die waarheid te se is ek oppad om vir my 'n 2,4 SRX Wide Body te loop koop - kan een by 'n pel vir BAIE goeie prys kry, ek los hom sommer daar en registreer hom 2017 model oor 2 weke.

Die manne wil 'n Ranger aan my verkoop, maar nie sommer nie. BAIE mooi bakkie, moet se..........maar daai Hilux loop soos stroop.

Net daai blerrie fish finder op die dash..........maar mens kan seker maar daar ook 'n Landsvlag oor sy kop gooi

Chris, my pel het die Lux gekoop - vir sy Malawiese butler. Hy bly net af in die pad, by die vliegveld.

Maar Isaac (die butler) het gese ek kan maar enige tyd kom hallo se as ek wil......ek het 'n remote van hulle hek.

Lekker in die Vleisstaat......
