GROOT fout!!!

Jy kan of start/programs/accessories/system tools/disk cleanup

Jy kan alle temp, old installation files en compacted old files uitvee.

Nog 'n manier is om Crap Cleaner te download en instaleer, sien http://www.ccleaner.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Hy doen dieselfde, net meer effektief.

Gebruik al bostaande op eie risiko

Hennie, mense gebruik allerhande anti virus sagteware en ek sien baie mense betaal selfs daarvoor.
Doen jouself 'n guns, installeer AVG en opdateer hom elke dag.
Hy is gratis en baie goed, sien http://free.avg.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Moenie geld mors op goed soos Norton of sulke crap nie, as jy 'n privaat individu is mag jy AVG gratis gebruik.

I'm also a convert from AVG to Avast. I was using AVG for donkey's years too, but Avast is a far superior product, IMHO. I have even bought and registered the full version of Avast, it really is that good!

People are speaking very highly of MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials), which is an all-in-one product, and has an excellent rating. If I had not bought and paid for Avast, I might well have simply used MSE, free to dinkum Windows users. It catches practically anything you find on the Internet.

Hentey, dump IE8 and switch to Firefox 3.6 or even Opera. These two browsers are a lot safer for browsing than IE, and are far faster as well.

Jip, also an Avast fan. Our whole company now uses Avast.

Free for home use, download and install (after uninstalling old AntiVirus) run boot time scan and delete all those infected files

Hope that helps

Lyk vir my daai was n groot fout.

I'm like Pieter .... have used AVG for thousands of years without a problem.(other than it takes about an hour every day to run scans on my system nowadays - used to be 10 / 15 mins in the old days, ... and almost every year they come up with a new version that one has to d/load and install ... better that than battle with a virus and lose data / settings with a re-format.) It scans for spy-ware and root-kits as well. :wink:

Hennie, you should never use more than one AV program on a computer. They tend to fight one another and come up with false positives. I would suggest dump Norton (it's uninstall can be very tricky, but I think there is an uninstall facility hidden somewhere on their website) and also McAfee, and just go along with Avast. You might even find this will solve your problem.

Re: PC PROBLEMS

Post by Family_Dog »

You could use any AV of your choice on any one computer,even if each networked computer uses a different AV program, but never more than one AV program on the same computer.

Norton has a bad habit of drastically slowing a computer down. It is an extremely resources-hungry AV and is not all that popular for that very reason. Nothing wrong with its AV properties though.

Avast! has always performed very well and is updated regularly, sometimes two or more times a day. It does not chew resources like Norton. If your laptop uses Norton, I would definitely suggest dumping Norton and installing either Avast! (my choice), or AVG (my second choice). But as I mentioned earlier, Norton is a problematic uninstall.

Hentey to answer your question you asked previously, YES you MUST have an anti virus but NO you DO NOT have to load a paid version on your personal computer. If a computer tiffy sells you an anti virus program for your personal computer it is only to make money from you not to help you.
