Ja, soos in die 6 cube nommers(DA is die lang neus model nommer?) of so hier en daar sien jy Dyna's.

But why?

They've been around for decades .... seem to recall from about late 60's onwards ... open to correction, but were first marketed here as Hino. The Hilux rear and side tippers I think are custom jobs, not available off the showroom floor. (You posted while I was busy .... but, ja the smaller ones are available .... probably special order though)

Mark, If you take a one ton long wheelbase Toyota, mount a lightweight load bin on it, with a fair size hydrolic ram it would easily carry a ½ ton load. The Toyota chassis should be capable to carry such a load? I have seen a Isuzu with such a conversion and it worked well. You get a 3 wheel motorbike with a 1,2 x 1,2 x 300mm load bin with a small hydrolic ram, works well. I had a CI built garden tip trailer that operated with a ordinary hand winch.

Such a conversion, bar the price of the Toyota chassis, should be cheap to build. Go for it.

The Hilux was built as a one tonner .... chassis should be able to handle the load just fine. Only thing is that the pivot point (rear end of chassis) for the tipping bin would have to be reinforced (or cut back to where the shackles mount). For some reason Toyota reduced the gauge at the rear end and changed from a rectangular box to a rectangular channel profile ..... not as tough. It's totally do-able. ;-)

Are you looking at doing mini-load cartage?

No, just wondering it the chassis would be strong enough...?

No man, you're overlooking a lot of factors .... look at the overhang of that camper ..... that extra weight being carried all the time over rough terrain with the extra stresses brought on by the leverage that the overhang produces, you can't expect it to hold forever. That situation is far, far worse than the stresses on a chassis from a tipper truck .... the weight will probably even be less than that fully loaded camper, and the loads are not being carted around 24/7 ..... If the bakkie works hard as a tipper it will only be carrying a load for about 30% of it's mileage. Furthermore, those tippers usually have a bit of a tail cut done to the chassis which lessens the leverage factor, as is also the case when you use a single cab rather than a DC. Look at that DC in the pics ..... all the weight is behind the rear wheel. there's a couple of these mini-load tippers running around locally carrying building sand and stone (even used their services myself many times) and they don't have any problems after many years running around all day delivering loads.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
