Probably about the size of a licence holder? I was thinking of sticking it to the rear door of the loadbin. Or in place of the ZA sticker in this photo, taken when BullDog went in to the Beauty Parlour before her makeover...
4Y respray 001.jpg
Actually, the size of the Community forum sticker is probably ideal.

Piet,

I would think a black one on a transparent plastic/vinyl film, so that only the black sticks to the car and the plastic/vinyl pulls off - similar to the "2200" black sticker?

What do you think, Swifty?

I am not sure if the black is going to work. Everyone knows that the original was blue and if you make it black the familiarity is lost

Eric, I can do that, but then I cannot add the little "R" because it will be too small to cut out.

Bennie, I agree with the familiar thing, but the blue do not look too good, it reminds us of some kind of rugby team. Anyway, if you sell a blue sticker like that to a Gautenger nobody will see it among all the other blue stickers.

Hallelujah! Piet has spoken some very wise words here :) The Hilux is not trying to copy any other company (who is Intel, anyway? ) or obscure sports team!

I would suggest leaving the "R" out altogether anyhow, the logo will speak for itself - and we do not, under any circumstances, want to be compared to a computer/component manufacturer (nor a relatively unknown-outside-its-boarders-sports team!) Black looks good!

I would suggest even smaller than the scale in Bennie's art work. And if we are worried about copyright laws, then what about reversing the spiral logo?

I know this might be almost off topic here but I could not resist the temptation:
"The box said "Requires Windows 95 or better" SO I INSTALLED LINUX"

I will make it the size of a license disc holder, will that be OK?

Piet, that's fine!

And, over the weekend I eventually managed to get my spare PC running very nicely on Linux, Ubuntu ver. 7.10.

Fascinating, but I need someone to hold my hand as I learn the ropes, have to stop thinking in a Windows mindset.

Pieter (or Cassie!),

I would love to have a couple of stickers the same size & shape as the round Community Forum sticker, white background with Cassie's cartoon Hilux on it, framed by the words "www.hilux4x4.co.za" in black.

Possible?

Eric, are those stickers the size of the license disc? Do you know what size it is. I agree with Bennie about the copy cat thing. But it's a good idea, let's see what we can make of it.

I saw in the back window of a corolla one day the slogan "I ♥ my Toy"

Cassie, that's exactly it!

Only change I would suggest is that the url be in solid black, but difficult to read the red outline.

They would be perfect for licence holders too.

Regarding copycat, we could do it in a square with rounded corners as well, but with an over-all size of a licence holder, I don't want (nor have much space for) anything bigger than that.

Piet, I will measure the size tonight and get back on this. Meant to do so yesterday, but the oldtimer's thing clicked in... you know, the urge to get a beer after a brainstorm. :)

Yep! I hadn't even seen the other replies when I replied to your perfect-O sketch!

Piet, the size we're looking for is 90mm diameter. Whether it's round or square (but with rounded corners - they look better!) is immaterial. But any bigger than that and it will not fit where I want it to.

The Community Forum sticker is a beaut, it's a raised embossed one, looks really good. Most of us are members of both forums so there is no problem with advertsing both of them.

And if I'm not mistaken it's printed on a kind of foil sticker which is quite robust

I like the idea, but I hate these stickers as it's always a mission to get off. How about those plastic ones that you attach permanently and can slide the licence in and out at the top?

The Community Forum sticker is embossed on raised vinyl, very high quality. Although it is the same size (I suppose...) as a licence holder sticker, it's actually intended to fit on the rear of one's 4x4 to assist in identifying members. That is what I'm after for the Hilux sticker.

But I like the idea of a permanent licence holder sticker as well, I also battle my wits out trying to remove the old vinyl when replacing the vehicle licence disk. Perhaps we should look at this as well?

Firstly the embossed stickers and License disk holders. I am trying to do both at once. Some of these license disk holders has the brand's logo on the inside. So I am thinking of getting an embossed sticker the size of that logo. I can then either sell it loose for those who only wants a sticker or sell it with the disk holder.

Then the 4Y EFI, Rich would you like it to look like the 4Y inside one or more one that looks like the 2200 sticker at the back?

I created a little invitation card which we can hand to Hilux owners whom we wanna invite to the forum.
I also created a down loadable pdf file so that those who want to print their own can print their own.

You can download the file at
http://www.hilux4x4.co.za/downloads

I printed 500 cards and I will be adding 10 free cards to each order I receive from now on. If it is a success I will for always continue with this, if it does not work as planned I will do it until I dished out all 500 cards.
