Mileage climbing steady and nicely, 776km training so far

, no injuries and no hassles. March I'm doing a marathon (Remax 42.2km in Edenvale) as my qualifier, picking up weekly mileage a bit, and also starting strength training for the legs and upper body.

The down-run is a cruel run, much harder than the up-run for me

Been quiet lately on this and this is why;

04 April '12 was tidying up the garage, under-estimated the weight of an old rear bumber (for project), despite knowing that I should lift with my knees

, anyway ended up spraining my back

, by Easter weekend I could neither walk nor drive. And so took a week's rest afterwhich I tried and completed a 10km jog - back was still slightly sore, saw the GP and got some painkillers and rested for two long weeks now. Imagine the frustration of not training and also the fear of posible permanent damage

, nonetheless on the 1st of May I was at it again and completed the Wally Haward Marathon (42.2km) with no problems.

From then onwards its been a case of doing just 5km runs (as a taper and also just to tune the mind) almost daily and still so far so good

.

With about two weeks to go (Comrades being on the 3rd of June 2012 - down run) there's no more turning back, I have qualified, rental car is booked and I'm just about to lose my marbles from not knowing if any sneeze would yield flu? (touchwood).

It'll be a case of challenging my mind into thinking of a finish every sore step of the way and thinking happy thoughts on the day of the race. I know its crazy but we all have our addictions

So the request is still out there for sponsorship as funds will be going into our club event later in the year

, new guys and gals please put your pledges up, it'll be much appreciated.

Good luck Tumelo and take it easy. You dont want something to happen so close to the time.

We are in for more or less the same kilos at more or less the same time just in different ways. We are leaving for the Fishriver hike on Friday and we will be back the day you do your comrades. The fish is 85km and the comrades is about the same distance.

You see, it does not help posting something and the not checking up on the post because not all the notifications come through…

I will accept the R4 p/km but unfortunately I will have to decline the offer on the R2 for Rafs as I already got a speech that I don’t spend enough on her…

All she hears is Hilux club…

Where will I sleep when I get kicked out of the house???
