For those that are following the Dakar and might have missed the updates.... The two South African Hilux's entered are currently in 4th and 18th overall. They are 3m49s and 38m33s behind the leaders respectively.

Go Hilux!!!!

I see the Mini's are doing surprisingly well and there even is a GWM in 11th position at the moment

All in all is daar 3 Suid Afrikaans geboude Hiluxe in die resies. Hulle is onderskeidelik die 3de, 8ste en 13de plekke

What is interesting is that the commentator is constantly referring to the SA Hilux as "underdeveloped." I presume in the context of the Dakar, they might be. That makes their positions very impressive. Geniel himself said that he lacks strait line speed. Go Boys Go!!!!!!! :goodjob: :goodjob:

Underdeveloped my @$$. If you have a sound corner stone to work from you don't have to re-develop everything. Gaan so lekker lag as die "underdeveloped" Hilux eerste plek vat.

wishing the hilux team all the best

as for original parts, all those vehicles are the same, almost nothing left of the original vehicle, except the class for original vehicles

for all those interested, there is an app for android and i phone, when one can get live updates
sadly, don't have the link, a search on app world worked great

and that hilux does sound great

Seems like on all those cars the headlights and badge stays original.
On that Volvo it did not even had the grill, only the badge.

The smartphone apps can be found at

and you can stay updated at:
