Morning everybody
Does anybody know or have a clue where the IFS' airbag sensors are?
What confuses me, are these "airbag compatible" bumpers. I understand that you can not recover/snatch from an ARB/TJM bumper, because of the crumple zone. That confuses me even further

Re: IFS - Airbag sensors
AFAIK the sensors is inside the cab.So in theory your Airbags will deploy quicker with a standard BB without the crumple zone.

Re: IFS - Airbag sensors
There are two sensors in the engine bay, when you look down at the chassis from the engine bay you'll see them. (the wiring is covered with yellow sprag tubing). There is also two sensors in the front seatbelt recoils

Re: IFS - Airbag sensors
Louis, correct. What you've circled is the airbag sensor, there is another one in more or less the same position on the other side. There are also airbag sensors in both front seatbelt recoils.
Its an electromechanical "ball and tube" mechanism, which basically consists of a small tube containing a circuit switch and ball that's held together by a small magnet. If a collision occurs, the ball is dislodged from the magnet and rolls forward in the tube, hitting a switch that completes the electrical circuit.
As long as the mounting of your front bumper doesn't interfere with the sensors or compromise the crumple zone, you'll be fine.
