Tonight I replied to a PM and then to my horror saw 5 messages still sitting in my Outbox that apparently were just sitting there . This is when I noticed for the very first time this:

"View messages: Outbox

Folder is 100% full (5 out of 1000 messages stored)"

To All: Apologies, I had no idea these messages had never been sent, they were all replied to timeously. I am deleting some of the earlier messages so these will (eventually!) now only get sent.

I had always assumed that should the Outbox/Sent folder be full, the forum software would simply delete the older messages accordingly on a need-to basis. Apparently not so?

Eric... to my knowledge with PM's the limit is on the inbox only. As far as I know PM's you send will sit in you outbox until such time as the user you send it to log onto the forum

Yep, that's what I thought as well.

On second thoughts, I wonder if the recipients did perhaps get my PMs after all but they could not be moved from the Outbox to the Sent folder, because the Sent folder was also full, according to the message that appeared in my Outbox.

Anyway, Chris did get my message but I had also now cleared out two pages of "Sent" messages. I could of course check back in my Inbox to see of anybody had replied to one of those messages, they were a couple of months old though.

All the PMs I refer to were in reply to PMs from the various people so I'm sure they would have checked their Inboxes.

Copy that. Maybe it's a new setting available with the new forum software
