This is why you don't recover from a tow bar.

Re: Student dies in freak 4x4 accident
It's never pleasant to read / hear of incidents like this and at the very least it should be a grim reminder to us all that safety comes first.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Does this include towing a broken down car?

towing entails minimum forces.Mikie wrote:Does this include towing a broken down car?
recovery, or the fun these youngsters got up to, entails massive forces
that is why you can tow on the tie-down hooks of a Hilux, but why you never use these for recovery

Depending on the savvy of both drivers in a towing situation, you can get some violent jolts ...... not so much a safety issue but can certainly cause some damage. Depending on how sturdy the rear bumper is of the towing vehicle and how it has been mounted, you should be able to use it. On the towed vehicle, if there is no towing eye, it's better to use a strop over a chassis rail or cross-member as long as the tupperware is not in the way.

Not nice to read these things.
So much unnecessary and preventable.
Condolences to the family and loved ones.
