I need to replace the tie rods and inner tie-rod ends on a Toyota Tazz. Anyone done this and give some advice or can recommend a mechanic in the Jhb or Eastern suburbs area ? I would do it myself but it looks like you need a special tool to loosen and tighten the inner tie-rod end :frustrated:

If you are mechanically challenged then better take it to a mechanic. Otherwise, no special tool required. Good old pipe wrench (bobbejaanspanner) and you are good to go. Thery are usually very tight and you should tighten them again very tight with some thread locker. And then mark the old tie rod ends before taking them off so that when you reassemble the tow in is not too far off so that you can drive to a service centre who can adjust the wheel alignment for you. Good luck

You can buy the parts loose from Midas / Toyota / etc and take them with to the alignment shop, ask them to replace and do alignment all in one go.
