Depends what you want to do with it, George. If it's going to see a lot of rough trails then SFA is going to outlast IFS but IFS is a more comfortable ride.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

SWAMBO wil get her Prado 120 for the Family trips and town runs.
The D/C will be my Toy there for i'm leaning to the SFA.
But to find a decent SFA these days . . .
Thus made me thinking about the Vigo V6

Then I'll vote SFA.

If you are a diesel fan, raise your hand.
If you aren't raising your hand, raise your standards!
A 4x4 is merely a machine that enables you to get stuck further away from civilization.

Howzit George.I've owned numerous SFA hiluxes and now drive a vigo 4x4 and so I think I can give fair comment on both vehicles.
As Andy stated, the sfa is a much tougher and robust vehicle and is better suited for the rough trails and bundu bashing.
The vigo is also a very capable hardy vehicle but I feel the continues bush bashing and rough trails will eventually damage the front syspention setup. One cannot beat the solid front axle syspention of the sfa.
The vigo has many more creature comforts and makes the drive to and from the destination more pleasant whereas the sfa is a slogger and the long journeys become even longer.
Last weekend the Hilux 4x4 club's Eastern Cape members had their annual get together day and we were privileged to drive on a farm in the Kei River Cuttings. The trails on this farm are rugged and quiet taxing on the vehicle.
I drove the trails, following all the other members in their very modified 4x4's and really enjoyed the outing but have to admit I would have preferred driving my older sfa on this particular outing.I had to choose my lines more carefully.
So for overlanding and the odd trail or two,I would go for the vigo but the sfa would be my choice of 4x4 for the harder trails and competitions.

Hi Thabo
Thanks but not a big fan on the Fortuner
Tony
SFA has been a big part of my vehicle history, owned about 7 of them.
The only reason om considering a Vigo is because the Nice SFAs are very scares
I'm Looking for one that did not see a panalbeater, and no rust.
Engine; 22R EFI, 4Y EFI , 3RZ, Lexus 2JZ or Lexus v8
I enjoyed my KZ SFA on the trail Low down torque and crawling speed, but seems i'm a Petrol head.

Have to agree with Niel.... 4L V6 is great for overlanding, strong motor, same fuel consumption as a 4Y or 22R... but not the right suspension for nasty offroad obstacle bashing, yes fine for the odd dunes or offroad play day... but if you want to play hard then an SFA is the better choice, but ja, an SFA on the long overlanding trips can be a bit rough!

It might be rough, but if anything goes wrong, you can get an SFA fixed anywhere... that is if you can’t sort it out yourself! Also easily modified for overlanding.Mr_B wrote:an SFA on the long overlanding trips can be a bit rough!

Short and sweet. n Mooi V6 Vigo gaan jy nog vir lank te koop kry. n Oorspronklike SFA in n mint kondisie is deesdae kollektors items. As jy so n SFA kry, koop hom pas hom op en geniet hom totdat jy dink jy het nou genoeg gehad van n SFA.Jy sal hom verkoop vir meer as wat jy vir hom betaal het en nog maklik n mooi V6 Vigo te koop kry
