The new car, known internally as the IMA model of the Toyota Hilux, features an Independent rear suspension, Mid-mounted engine, and All-wheel drive. The engine now sits just behind the front wheels, in between and slightly below the crew. The independent rear suspension has been retained, though the suspension geometry is all-new, due to the layout of the new car.

Hall said: "We’ve carried over the naturally aspirated V8 engine from the previous car, and have also retained the gearbox and most of the running gear but the way we use those components is completely new, and the tests have been highly encouraging."

The purpose of this testing is to put the latest creation from the Toyota Gazoo Racing South Africa, masterminded by Team Principal Glyn Hall, to the test. The newly developed machine has been significantly changed for the 2018 event. In a rather bold move, the team has decided to move the location of the 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8, which is a development of the motor seen in the Lexus IS F.

2UR-GSE
The 2UR-GSE is a 5.0 litre (4969 cc) engine fitted to the Lexus IS-F, RC-F, GS-F and LC 500. It is an all-alloy quad-cam, 32-valve V8 with Yamaha-designed high-flow cylinder heads, titanium inlet valves, high-lift camshafts and dual-length intake. It has D4-S gasoline port and direct injection, Dual VVT-i with electric VVT-iE inlet camshaft actuation. Bore is 94 mm and stroke is 89.5 mm.

In the IS-F the engine had an 11.8:1 compression ratio and produced 417 hp (311 kW; 423 PS) at 6,600 rpm and 51.5 kg⋅m (505 N⋅m; 373 lb⋅ft) at 5,200 rpm. In the RC-F and GS-F the compression ratio was increased to 12.3:1 and output 467 hp (348 kW; 473 PS) at 7,100 rpm and 54 kg⋅m (530 N⋅m; 391 lb⋅ft) at 4800-5600 rpm.

I am a bit late with my post, was away for the weekend.
Congratulations to the Toyota Gazoo team with 2nd and 3rd place and to Giniel with his 3rd place!
