Damn! I'm real sorry to hear that, and believe me that sick feeling is still fresh in my mind.

Very strange thing though, I was fast asleep and was dreaming that my work Lux was being stolen out my yard. It seemed so real that I got up to look if it was still there. Thankfully it is, but I am now wide awake with a cuppa and a smoke ... thought I'd log on, and your post was at the top of the list!!! :x :x Eerie!

I pray we get our vehicles back.

Louis, post those pics. One never knows when or where that vehicle might show up and who might see it. It's probably already in the Transkei. Show or describe distinguishing features that would not easily or likely be changed to alter it's appearance.

First thing they will remove to alter the appearance is the stickers.
They would likely also remove the canopy, roof racks, spot lights and spare wheel swing arm.

Let's hope that they took it thinking you had lots of work goodies in the Canopy and then they may abandon it. :!:

It's such a distinctive vehicle, I'd be suprised if they are brave enough to drive it around. :o:

Let's hope and pray that you get it back soon Louis

Hi Louis,

I'm really sad/angry the hear this... so annoying... but there is always hope.

about 5 years ago a member of our church had there one and only work bakkie stolen, of course they were distraught, I don't think they could afford insurances... they asked the church to pray for God's favour in this matter... 2 weeks later the employee, from whom the bakkie was stolen, was walking home from the station, when he noticed the bakkie parked next to a dwelling in the township... he still had the keys in his bag, got in the bakkie, started it and stole it back! A good friend of mine, James, had his Honda Ballade stolen and managed to get it back when a friend spotted the vehicle in Woodstock(CT)...

So don't give up hope yet, that lux is very distinctive and you have all the forum members across the country on the look out for it!

Thank you for all the support guys.

And yes, it make me angry but that is that. Thanks Scott for posting those pics, it is very accurate how the Bakkie looks.

Yes, I think if you zoom in on the 1st pic one can see a nice scratch about in the center of the rear and front right hand door. Otherwise like you say, it is all the accessories to id the Bakkie.

Yet again Thanks.

Really sorry to see that your bakkie was stolen, will keep my eyes open for it on the roads.

The thought that someone could take mine prompted me to get a tracking device fitted - i can keep track of where the vehicle is when it starts / switches off. Can also monitor where it is on the internet.

While i may not get it back if it goes, i am sleeping a little easier knowing that i can track it, and HOPEFULLY get it back in one piece.

Sure hope you get yours back.

Will post the pics to friends who are also on the roads like me, from 8-5.

Cassie,

No Tracking device, always postpone the tracker. People learn here, just do it. Bakkie is ok insured, but I never get back the value of the accessories. By now or at least last night I knew exacly where it could have been if there was a tracker.

Ek hoop vir die "ou" wat my Bskkie gevat het jy kry 'n kramp in jou G^%T. Want jy dink net aan jouself. Jammer dis net wat ek dink.

Nogmals dankie vir julle.

Hi Guys,

Let's put our faith in action and PRAY with Louis that he will get his vehicle back.
I will also start an e-mail requesting my friends to keep their eyes peeled.
Louis, I think maybe you should contact the other 4x4x forums as well. Let's stand together on this one
and we pray that Louis will get his vehicle back safe and sound.
Louis can you also PM me with your contact details and cellphone number so I can put it on the e-mail.

Hi guys,
I believe that Prayer is the best way to get things sorted, thought i would let you know about a product from the Control Instruments Group - Company now known as Mix Telematics called the Suredrive unit. has a remote immobiliser, alarm accessories as well. It is a pay as you go tracking device. Easy to install just 2 wires, neg and Pos. I was the Logistics Manager there for 2 years. was launched last year, Great product, internet tracking, you can sms the unit asking a few questions like where are you and it replies, travelling 85km/h on N2 past cape Town international airport or like 100m parked from R44, etc. For insurance purposes an installation company must install but all the staff were buying them at the time. they might have changed the name of the product recently. being pay as you go, it was very appealing for the individual, not contract fees etc. if you cant afford the airtime, u just leave it (bad idea - as luck usually works that way) haha. think it was int he region for about R4k.

Hi Louis

Hope and pray you get the Bakkie back.

As you know I'm starting to get my goodies and fixing up my van, I can only imagine how you must feel.

"they" took my brother's (still a student) 1984 Bantam Bakkie a few months ago, it wasn't even worth R10k, but to him it was worth a Million. Interesting thing is that the little van was falling to pieces so that begs the Question: who's going to steel an old skedonk like that and fix it up?

But maybe King Zuma's gonna fix everything...

UPDATE:

Well, in my blondness I discovered a wonderfull piece of paperwork.

This contains the serial nr. of where applicable the serial no's of some of the Accessories, to mention a few:
1. GPS
2. Airlocker
3. Engel Fridge.
4. GWM injection manifold
etc.
Well if you(The thieves) buying one of the above and many other that have a no. and want it fixed. :problem: They cant take it anywhere, you will get caught. And for the Gps, I hope you smashed it, Garmin will track it if your trying to update any software, it it reported stolen.

Be sure, there will be a part two...

That's at least a little positive Louis. Let's hope you can recover the vehicle through one of these items. :eh:

I hope what you're saying is that the thieves have exposed themselves to detection by trying to flog off some of your vehicles identifiable accessories. :P

Louis, perhaps you must post those serial numbers on the site. So in the next couple of months if any forum members are presented with such second hand spares we can check the numbers and if you buy such good where the numbers have been removed you must be careful.

Jis maar julle is darem wreed

Reminds me of the joke about the baby who was born without eyelids.

To rectify this the doctors had to do an eyelid transplant. Since they did not have a suitable donor they sommer circumcised the baby.

As he grew up his parents realised that the child had very good fore-sight even though he was a bit cock-eyed.

Ook maar reg :D Hijack die post. Dankie dat julle orals kyk.

Net een ding, ek spits nou meer op die accessories as op die bakkie, die seker al lankal uitmekaar. Ek sal julle weer laat weet as iets gebeur.

Is maar net tyd nou.

Groette,
Louis
