Advice on a cruiser

Post by lukestrugnell »

From a friend:

"My brother in law is keen on getting a Landcruiser Station wagon 4l petrol Auto probably about a 96’. He is going to be using it to tow a deep sea boat as well as use it on the breach to do surf launches.

Would you be able to ask some of the okes if they recon having an Auto for beach driving is good. Also maybe other things that are known to wear on the Cruiser so that when he looks at the one he is keen on buying he can check these things out too"

Can anyone comment?

Thanks guys
Luke

'96 is prob a 4.5l petrol and prob a 80/100 series, if I recall correctly :?:

Pushing an auto in sand is a bit of a problem....... :shh: :shh: :shh: But good all rounder anyway imo!
How big is the boat?

The 4.5 auto works great on sand, doesn't dig in as easy, will work well for beach launches

Agree with you Hoppy

Lived in the middle east for 5 years, the only thing we had to do was to play in the dunes, automatic seemed to be even better in sand due to the longer range per gear and smoother shifting, need some power behind it though, and perhaps newer generation technology / gearboxes a bit different than the older belt-driven type.
