Swaziland

Post by Scorpion »

I am looking for some info on the state of the road From Pongola to Malelane. We are planning a trip with some German family. We are going to Umhlanga for a week and then the Lowveld for another. We are traveling in a Tuna and an Audi A6, some I'm a bit worried about the Audi.

We plan to take the N2 to Pongola and then enter Swaziland at Lavumiza. We will then follow the Mr8 and then split onto the Mr6 just after Big Bend. Follow this road north until LohnFuoleko and then take the Mr3. Turn onto the Mr24 and then the Mr105 through Kamhluswa until we join the N4 just before Malelane.

Can anyone shed some light on the surfaces and state of these roads? Any info will be much appreciated!

Hi there,

I just came back from Swaz.

Entered @ Josefsdal, and exit @ Lavumiza

Road from Josefdal is bad up to Piggs peak, but from there it was magic.

The road was perfect !

I'll do it again when going to Natal !

Stick to speedlimits !

No problem - often travel through to Malalane or Komatipoort.

Thanks, guys. Is most of it tarred or gravel? And will the Audi survive?

Great, thanks for all the info! Does anybody know if they also require passports to still be valid for 6 months? My 4 year old's is expiring in March and we are still waiting for her new one. Do they accept tempory passports?
