Pella to Alexanderbay Trip (21 June to 30 June 2013)

Hi Guys

I am planning a trip from pella to alexanderbay in june school holidays. i havnt been up that way in a few years so i thought nows good a time as any... im planning on following the trip the guys from drive out did in 2010..

If any of you guys want to join you are more than welcome... we do need permits and that has to be organised within the next two to three weeks... here is some info on the drive out guys trip.. if anybody has any more info that wil also be much appreciated

Hi guys

Ok i phoned springbok tourism dep., and i can confirm the permits cost R150 per vehicle per section.. so this means the permits will cost R300 per vehicle for the whole trip..

1st section Pella to Vioolsdrift - R150
2nd section Vioolsdrift to Alexanderbay - R150

Dit klink lekker.. ek was nog nooit by kruger in nie, nog eendag n plan maak... het wel al by alldays op n plaas gaan kuier.. lekker daar gekuier by n plaas kroeg... uhm dink dit was piet se gat of so iets.. kanie onthou nie hehe..

Hierdie is net n voorlopige beplanning, ek het een dag ekstra op die pella-vioolsdrift route ingesit.. so indien nodig kan ons werk aan die datums

Top-up Fuel Tanks

Lyk of dit die ding is wat julle meeste gaan doen.

Pella Orange River Resort is a handy sleep over for the start of this trip .... also VERY cheap !


about 4 months back our trip leader downloaded the "latest T4A" maps - WRONG !! Once led us down a dead end routes - not complaining, as it provided EXCELLENT photo opportunities. A couple of kilos further we followed the route down to rive just to run into a brand new fence !!


Should also note another gent uploaded the "latest" T4A ONE WEEK before the trip, ie about 22 April 2013 - THIS was accurate !


Due to all the extra bits, day one got "long" .... Dont underestimate the time taken from the Pella to the big tree ...

Thx for the info.. i'll make sure my t4a is updated with the latest version, I went there a few years back, and we got a paper map with the route set out on it with our permits, will double check that with them thx again

Ek het die "draaie" geniet - MOOI, baie mooier as die eintlike roete. Maar as die dag lank raak, raak party mense mos maar krapperig .. :)


Een van die "draaie" wat ons gery het (nogal redelik naby aan Pele, maar die pad loop uiteindelik dood, dan moet mens weer terug na de grond pad), en nog so paar fotos om jou solank LUS te maak !! :)

Verry verry nice trip you are organising Boetie!! Just make seker there are wanting to be fuel at Vioolsdrift. Last time we came thru there in 2011 we were told we had to cross the border to Noordoewer to get fuel. But we had enough to make Steinkopf 80km's down the N7 which was on our way anyway.

Shopping should be done at Springbok, before going on to Vioolsdrift. Note that the closest fuel is in Steinkopf, 80km from Vioolsdrif on the N7 or Noordoewer in Namibia, 13km from Aquacade.

Fanks Thys i does spoke to froll/aka Roger hes does say dat daar no petrol is on vioolsdrift, so we does plans to raai to stynkopf two make full our cans.. as four us kom uit op die N7 tassen daar end vioolsdrift to curry on wif de twice part of de root
