Mabuasehube Sept 2017

Post by Vanillaminx »

The men in my family are leaving for Mabuasehube in less than 2 weeks. They are driving through Botswana. I have a few questions to ensure they are well prepared.

What are the current regulations regarding taking food across the border?
How much water do you recommend per person?

Fresh red meat and citrus are the major concerns and may be confiscated.

Red meat south to north not normally an issue -- just not chicken or pork.
tomatoes also a no no

water - i took 60l for a week and its enough - however you can drive all the way to the gate again, and fill there(but not for drinking)

Pork, Chicken, Tomatoes, squashes, vegetables growing above ground and probably all fruits will currently be confiscated.
You can travel North and West with mutton and beef, but not East and South, where they will confiscate at the various Vet Posts.
If you have cooked meat or processed meat like viennas, polony, etc, it may be taken anyway through Botswana Vet Posts...
