1st one for 2016

Post by Stef »

Caught this 7kg fattie at Roodekopjes 2 Jan; can't remember on what...was just too happy to land this one after two similar sized ones got away, one broke an 18lbs leader line and the other got off the hook, literally :mocking:

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

That was the plan...I'm pro release but unfortunately this one died shortly after. We suspect the water was too warm with the dam levels being so low and possibly depleted oxygen levels as well. Shallows felt like bath water.

What struck me as odd was the low resistance, didn't put up too much of a fight although the new Sensation rods could have just made light work of it. Colour was also a bit off.

Be that as it may, it hasn't gone to waste; was oven baked, minced and turned into fish cakes
