Yaris lag in response

Post by Borntofish »

I had a what can only be described as a flat spot when accelerating. After a bit of time on Google the recommendation was to clean the Mass airflow sensor.

I have cleaned it on Saturday with contact cleaner and gave it a good burst of the stuff. It seems to have sorted out the jerky response I had. Now my questions is this sensor on its way out, or would a clean sort it out?

I also have a Yaris with about 210000km also just cleaned what I think was the MAS but had no problems.

over time dirt builds up on the sensor. doesnt mean its on its way out.

careful to only use cleaners that state mass air flow / sensor safe

those buggers are very sensitive.
also, disconnect the battery and leave it for about 20 mins to reset the ecu. it needs to see the proper new values that the sensor is seeing.
Real drivers use three pedals
