I will probably get the "search the forum" reply but have to ask. Our family (read Swambo) is now starting to get over the tent camp thing and is starting to look at caravan options. What are the options for 4 sleeper offroad caravans?

We looked at the more advertises xplorer and conqueror, but dont know what else to look at. Is there a list? Please just list your caravan if it fits the criteria. Will then google from there. Thanks.

pS: or are there a clear normal caravan that fits the pocket better... And then keep the roof top tents fkr the rougher roads??

Went through this recently, best trailer is maybe the Summit. Of road caravan maybe Imagine or Echo, but depends what are your priorities. Second hand Safari caravans are freely available on the web. They are not bad, but as said depends what you looking for, maybe a bit heavier than the other. The Bushlapa series are also very popular.

In the back of the Caravan magazine you will find a list of trailer and caravans. But the best is to maybe go the these exhibitions and look at all of them. I bought the Kavango, with built in shower  , and not too heavy.

Okay nout ek sommer klaar gemoan ok... voel sommer beter

Conqueror of Bush lapa is my top 2.

Ek is baie impressed.

Sprite Tourer SP or SW are highly recomended for gravel roaders...
They are apparently tough & are well put together...

I am looking at a Sherpa Tiny Gravel Roader for something smaller, lighter & more manageable with a Ostrich awning for more convenience with zip up panels...
Also looking at avoiding the WOODROT thing with the fibreglass Sherpa...

Tx Edge, Have it for a month now & worked through 2 camps.

Setup is super easy once the trailer is in position; roughly 15 min to set stabilizers, open the covers get the tent up and fold the bed open.the awning is a different story, easily 20 minutes with 2 people but this is the big one that covers everything, 10 poles in total. Should go quicker in time ...

Love the Conqueror tents, 1st choice would have been a Metalian trailer with Conqueror tent, but the Courage is hard to beat price wise IMO, base price R10k cheaper than Metalian and includes a whole lot that are optional on the Metalian (nose cone, slides, shelves, water tank etc) so apples for apples there would be a R30 -R40K difference if not more.

Make no mistake, I love the Metalian, but the little Courage is more than sufficient for 3 people...horses for courses. Very happy with it
