Water tank hose and tap placement

I am considering fitting a water tank (Front Runner) to the back of my bakkie that sits flush to the cab.

My question is related to the outlet pipe/ hose and tap. Where would be a good place to mount the tap? Considering that one would not like if to be filled with mud/dirt nor be in the way to be bashed. I don't really want to fit a pump to the tank. Gravity fed is better.
