Shower
I want to add a hot shower to my next holiday. I have been to camping places and see a lot of options, some built in, some work on a gas cylinder etc etc. I was wondering if anyone on the forum has any ideas and any experiences good or bad.
My holiday is getting close and I am starting to get excited you see.

Re: Shower
The Best Bush Shower I ever saw in the field involved using stuff you already have in your vehicle

Re: Shower
Martin,
I have a gas shower that fits ontop of the gas cylinder, and it works very well!!!! I can actually shower with a bit of water and it can boil water if you wish too............
It really helps a lot with the ladies for feeling clean!!

Re: Shower
Jaco (Suidwes) told me about a very nice hot shower they fabricated in the bush once. I can't remember if he used it on their recent trip to the Richtersveld or not, but if he did then even George and/or Niel will be able to tell you about it.
Jaco is currently in the process of moving to Gauteng, so he does not visit the forum much.

Re: Shower
I have tried many, many bush shower ideas and eventually settled on something simple and inexpensive:
20l Water Jerry Can (Blue), mix in 2l of boiling water, drop 12v camp shower obtained from Macro in it, and even swambo with long hair is happy as a pig in.... Hot water shower....

Re: Shower
That was me.Jaco had the same setup but he used a deffrent container. We use a metal paint drum. You can heat it on the fire or gas.(New R50).12v Shower(R119).Pop up shower cubicle(R250?).It works realy well.I used my rubber floor carpet for a base in the showerHe had a drum(20 l) that they put on the fire and a 12 v shower system from the drum.
Here is a pic of the cubicle. The drum is on the inside. The setup is called a Kalahari geyser

Re: Shower
Yep, this set-up is the best. Also, get a plastic grid to stand on. If you shower on sand, make a heap with a shovel, put small groundsheet over the heap, put grid on heap, then the water run off and you don't stand in the sand or mud. Cotton soil in Bots is a schlep if it gets wet, you sink into the ground, and everything then full of mud. Lekka shower!!
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Shower
Making sense. Hot water in a water tank which I have then all I need to do is buy the pump thingy and not worry about the complications. The heap of sand with a plastic sheet over it is a great idea.
Could I use the 12v shower pump to replenish my water tank from a river I wonder?

Re: Shower
