Navstar 220 sending problem

Post by george »

Hi Guys
Hope you all rested well.
I have a problem with my radio :? I can recieve the signal and the sound quality is quite good.(I can even hear Niel  )
But when I transmit the rest of the guys can not hear me.They say it sounds like I am whispering. When we are next to each other they can hear me 100%.I do not think it is a loose connection with the mouth piece.
Someone mentioned it could be that my radio is not programed to use the max power level wich is 5watt(I think).
Is there a way of checking it or get into its "head" to check the settings or could this be somthing else :?:

I hope FD is back at work

George, try borrow another microphone, maybe your mic has lost some sensitivity.

I'm not familiar with the Navstar stuff - I presume it is a mobile radio and not a portable radio?

No, not programming. The power levels are fixed at 5W and while tuning can affect the power output, programming can't. The tuning will not go out either unless it was adjusted by someone - unlikely. If your radio receives well, then it is unlikely (but not impossible) to be the antenna or connector. Check them out anyway, the radios usually have a very basic power-meter for this purpose.

If all fails, swap it with Niel's radio

Hi FD
Do you know who is the dealers for Navstar

I found this one on the internet
http://www.killerdeals.co.za/product_in ... cts_id=315
But i see it is actually a dragon mouthpiece and I think the Dragon is a 4 pin while this one is a 5 pin conector

George, Navstar locally went under some years back. Not sure where Killerdeals get their radios from, must have had lots in stock or perhaps bought out Navstar's final stock. Try them, they might have a mic. lying round.
