Pollen Filter on my 2.7 Hilux not replacable?

Post by CalMul »

Hi all,

My bakkie was in for a service recently and I asked to have the pollen filter replaced. On arrival they told me my Hilux (And apparantly some others also that was in a "specific" batch) have sealed pollen filter units and therefore cann't be replaced?

How much truth is in this? Its the 2.7 single cab 2x4, December 2006/January 2007 model.

I'll appreciate some info on this pls?

Here is a pic I took behind the cubby hole, I assume it will be the black box there?

Doesn't make sense to me. If a pollen filter is fitted it should be replaceable, otherwise the airflow will be severely choked when the filter collects dust etc. Not familiar with the filter setup, but in that pic it looks like it can be opened.

Exactly, I have never come across a vehicle that a pollen filter cann't be replaced.....cause it doesn't make sense.

I only came home after dark last night and wasn't in the mood to start fiddling there, so thought this morning I'll take a pic and ask before I try?
