4X2 OLD DAYS
Hi guys,
Some useless information, the older guys will remember the days when driving on beach and dunes was legal. Now i remember very few 4x4s and plenty beach buggies and ford cortina 30l ldv.
Sudwana bay natal was cortina crazy wide deflated tyres, some people forget but our diff lock was the handbrake and you needed wide turning circles to find your way back but what fun, anyway just remembering.

Imagine you wake up tomorrow and all you have left is what you thanked God for the night before.

Still got an old buggie that's a shelved restoration. Had a Cortina LDV as well. Still used the handbrake till recently getting a diff lock.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Re: 4X2 OLD DAYS
And the Firestone 205 Wide Oval tyres at 0.8 bar was the best...

Re: 4X2 OLD DAYS
I had a Peugeot 404 bakkie, that thing was king in sand, i went flying past a few Landcruisers and Landrovers that got stuck at Sodwana, but like you said, wide turning circle and never touch the brakes.
My 1972 Kombi also kicked but, it had a 2.1I motor, 245/60/14 rear tyres on 8j rims.
The jeep on the beetle pan and fleetline rear suspension with reduction boxes also worked extremely well.
But if you sipped enough Tarzan Juice, annything could go onto the sand, even a Jetta CLI, but that's another story...

I drove a 2.2 Venture on the beach at Sudwana in 1999/2000 milunium. Standard 195/14 tyres at 0.8 bar and drove all over the place and even challenged some dunes.
