Re: Rusty Now BIG RED
Thanks Guys for all the good comments, defi wouldn't have happend if it wasn't for a tonne of help and motivation from guys on this forum and my m8's who helped.
There's still alot to be done, but that's over time now, as saving for my oil burner next.
A few points I have learnt doing this and will defi keep in mind for next time.
1. minimum of a double garage required
2. double what ever budget you thaught
3. purchase half of SAB before starting
4. sign devorce papers and seperate first NO ONLY KIDDING
5. strip each item individually and make comments on paper for each item so when re- assembling, you can know what was missing from the start and what was broken - Big Must
6. ask for help when stuck, makes a huge difference, you'll be surprised as to who is willing to assist
7. be willing to pay that little bit extra when needed as it saves you a tonne of time and money.
Many Thanks again to all who helped and gave inspiration, greatly appreciated.

Re: Rusty Now BIG RED
Likewise! If you come up to JHB let us know, we could do an outing / GTG like we talked about Just not in May...I'm flat broke already.... Maybe you could join us for the De Wildt GTG? You could hitch a ride with us if you'd like...
My van sitting pretty in the garage...itching to go out. Battery was completely dead when we got back, central locking everything dead; could not even jump it with the Polo so flat it was! The BX2 I got from F_D had to work overtime, and I had to 'trick' it into detecting that it actually had a battery hooked up to it
Managed to do the diff breathers the weekend past and I must say I'm chuffed, will post pics in the apprpriate thread l8er.

Re: Rusty Now BIG RED
I've got spices for chops
I haven't yet completed the inside, Baviaans was a calling and finances went a running, LOOONG month May.
I'm gonna go oil burner 3CT, know a few people who have these in and are more then satisfied, so taking a chance and finding out myself.
As far as I know aswell, it's a basic diesel motor, no electonics ect... and was still built for working so not so sensitive to our brilliant quality diesel we have now days
I'll get some pics of the inteerior going this weekend and show you how she looks with the new door panels and roof linning, also got a GREY dash now just looking for the grey steering cowling and grey steering wheel if you know of 1's lying around.
Will give you a shout some time and catch up

Re: Rusty Now BIG RED
Cool beans My steering wheel's grey rubber is loose on the steering wheel, so I am also looking for a new one. I wonder if the cressida's or camry have a grey one that will fit. I will look around the scrap yards here and let you know.

Thanks again Guys.
Karl, I'll make a turn past your place some time and we can catch up and see what's happening there with your Lux.
Andrew, Cheers, we must defi make a plan for a GTG, I tried for a friday drinks meet, but no joy at this stage, however have got some good replies from some who are willing for a later stage, so defi we must get it going and get together.
How's your van going? Whats new?
