Re: Ford V6 parts
I have the same problem, nobody carries the solid cam followers or rockers. I learnt to live with it.
Try these guys: http://www.countrycarengines.co.za/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They are the only Ford specialists I have heard of.
If you find a solution, let me know.

.....i understand that some people are using the rockers from the Chevy Smallblock. Apparently it works on the Ford Essex. Has anybody tried this.....?

Re: Ford V6 parts
well there are two systems on these motors
one is the uprated motors with hydraulic lifters witch should be checked every 75000km
those are easy to check!!
depending on who has worked on your motor before you bought it (have just found that out) some people removed the hydraulic lifters and replaced them with solids
this would be on the heads with the rockers shafts!!
then the older system and the most common would be where each rocker arm is mounter on its own stud type system!!
the problem with setting both these system is that things wear!!
like cam followers wear hollow, and hence need to be refaced, for starters, and to remove these out the block the heads have to come off, and this for me is enough to leave them noisy!!
although I have just pulled the heads, and had the lifters re-faced!!
pulled heads for other reason (suspect head gaskets, and changed cam!!)
then that could not be the end of the noise,as other things wear!!
like the face of the little rockers arms (on both systems) and when one puts the feeler gouge in, the feeler gouge goes across the whole face and not only where it runs/makes contact!!!
hence leaving the effective gaps too big, and hence noise!!
self still one or noisy, and will be sorting it out over the next few days!!
last time that I got this motor quiet, did it by feel and NOT with a feeler gouge!!
however that could be very risky, although for me it worked out!!
another tip, on the Ford V6, only one gasket works, Payen!!
been chasing issues for years, done all the tests, and nothing could say, gaskets are leaking or NOT leaking conclusively!!
even though one of the heads were cracked!!
found the one sealing ring on the head gasket, cracked!!!
and on the gaskets that were in there, the sealing ring was half as wide as the ones that are on the payen gaskets!!
wish I had pulled these heads years ago!! yep 41000km and 3 years!!
some supper hot summer days bumper to bumper it would stay cool, and some cool days, it would get hot and loose coolant, and no test showed any thing conclusive!!
any case school fees!!
a bit late as the V6 is due to make way for the lexus V8 soon!!
sorry for the slight off topic, however thought it could help someone also still running the Old Ford V6!!
