Hoe vervang mens engin bearings?
More Almal

Re: Hoe vervang mens engin bearings?
Ek spuit net so bietjie Silicone spry.

What mileage has the vehicle done, AJ?
Firstly, don't mess with something that doesn't need to be messed with so leave the bearings until you have POSITIVELY identified the source of the screech. Check the fan belt tensions first. Most often that not it's the fan belt itself that slips and NOT the bearings. You can get some inexpensive aerosol belt dressing to spray on the belts, otherwise beeswax is damn good too.
If it's not the fan belts themselves, get a mechanic's stethoscope from Midas (also not expensive) and listen to each bearing in turn when the screech is present. Replace ONLY that bearing. If it's the external front aircon bearing you might get away with doing it yourself (Cassie has a topic where he did his ... just do a search), otherwise it should be sent in to a professional.

Re: Hoe vervang mens engin bearings?
Thanks oom Andy Fudges got almost 150k kilos on, I don't think its the belt as I allready sprayed some Q20 on it while it was screatching and nothing happend. The sound is comming from the left side of the engin. I will go and get a stethoscope I'm just a bit scared to put my hands near all those moving parts while the engin is running.

Re: Hoe vervang mens engin bearings?
You can use a metal rod that you can place on the bearing housings and put the other end to your ear .... your hands should never do in there when the motor is running. Even the mechanics stethoscope has an extension for this purpose.

Re: Hoe vervang mens engin bearings?
I agree with the slim ouens, don't open/replace bearings if there is nothing wrong with it. If in doubt, take it to someone to help locate the faulty bearing/s. Ask tips on how to replace it and take it from there.
Good luck

Re: Hoe vervang mens engin bearings?
That sounds like the belt is slipping. Maybe it's just the belt, They can get hard after some time and I would replace it first ... not expensive and an easy job. Even if it turns out not to be the belt, it's still money / time well spent.FUDGES wrote:Ek het die probleem bearing gekry!
