Sometimes with a cracked/blown gasket, compressed cylinder gasses push water out via the coolant tank hence at times difficult to see a leak.

Craig, if you're not loosing coolant except where it starts to get really hot, and only getting hot under load or at high speeds, it's quite possible that the radiator is shot. Have a look at the little fins on the radiator if they are badly corroded. Otherwise it could also be a thermostat or radiator cap problem.Shark King wrote:Need some advice as i have experienced that my Temperature gauge rises when under torque but does not overheat and have lost minimal water but cannot find a leak....looking for a reputable workshop to help with pressure testing to identify the problem.....am based in JHB
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Re: Hilux IFS 2001 Temperature Rises
Theo, It may be a simple thing like a shortage of ATF in the reservoir. Check it. Otherwise it's on it's way out but will continue to work OK for quite a while, without any collateral damage. You can have it re-conditioned or replace it at a later stage once you are back.Theodorus wrote:Cant place a new post but need to ask my powersteering pump is making a zinging noice on holiday can it break im on holiday till the 3rd not driving to much what will happen if it packs up
