Hi guys my SFA 88 hilux's left rear brake broke , the little pin and spring with cup came loose and now busy trying to rebuild it but this manual i got from toyota is confusing the hell out of me . If you look on attached pic it shows the left and right wheel assembly but if i look at mine it doesn't look the same , what one is the right way the left pic or the right pic ?
Workshop manual diagram :
What i saw on my brakes :
Would this be the right way ? Or not ?
Any advice would be welcome as it seems to me that the previous mechanic didn't know how to correctly assemble the brakes and that is why everything went haywire , so now i want to do it myself and do it right .

Willie,
Looking at your pictures it seems to me that you bakkie and mine doesnt use the same braking system.I would suggest you remove the right wheel drum and looks how the springs and gadgets fit together.

Hi Willie, I found the same thing when I did mine. I took it as an error in the manual and just put everything back the way it came out. Seemed to work fine.

Dawie,
Your brakes look like they are missing a spring at the bottom of the shoes... I may be wrong though.

Just because it says "4WD" doesn't make it an off-road vehicle.

Ek het self vandag my dromme begin doen. Sal wil weet hoekom toyota dit so ingewikkeld wil maak.
