Looking for reputable suspension workshop in Durban area

Post by CroAfrican »

Fellow HiLuxers, I would please need an advice on locating a reputable suspension workshop to carry out a standard suspension maintenance on my 4x4 2005 2.7i Lux. Bushes on my Lux' upper and lower ball joints, idler arm, inner and outer tie rod ends (have small steering free-play), RR trailing arm bushes and stabilizer bar bushes are all worn out and have free-play, thus need to be replaced. Basically, complete suspension & steering bush set is expectedly warn-out after 12 years. I prefer not using Toyota workshops as I got burnt by services rendered by Gateway (they burned me repeatedly on other matters - even not doing regular services properly) and Ballito branches. I approached Toyota Ballito last year, who informed me that my FL wheel bearing is warn out (there is a bit of free-play on the wheel) and had replaced it. To my disappointment, the wheel free-play was still exitent after the wh. bearing was replaced. Now I have a spare good wheel bearing  . I seeked advice from the first suspension w/shop I could find in Pinetown and they, straight-away picked up on the warn out bushes. They demonstrated the free-play and the sources of it and the upper and it was apparent that lower ball joint bushes really caused most of the free-play. Now, the mechanics in the w/shop I visited seemed very clued up, and helpful, but the feeling I got when I saw all-kind of car parts from various cars strewn all-over the workshop floor (including engine parts - even tho they advertise as suspension specialists) didn't bring my confidence in them doing a high quality job. Toyota Kingsmead services my other 2012 4x2 Lux and I am very happy with their service, but they send the vehicles to ACSA-Mag workshop for suspension related matters. Not sure how good are those guys. Any referrals to reputable DBN area workshops? Taking my Lux to Mozambique in Dec and wouldn't want my to be let down and stuck in middle of nowhere because of shoddy workmanship. Thanx
