Dyno Charts

Post by Family_Dog »

Hi Guys,

Thought it would be nice to have a reference for all the dyno charts that we have had done for the various Hilux engines. Please post them here if you come across any, they are currently scattered all over the forum.

Excellent Idea FD. Will be good if we can include a brief description of engine mods as well as tyre size as this has a direct impact on the torque on the dyno.

Here is my facelift (4 port) 2004 4x4 2.7 3RZ 16Valve's mods:

Freeflow
Wildcat Branch
Unichip
Gasflowed head
Cams done very subtly

Tyre Size 31x10.5x15 BFG A/T's

And dyno Chart:

Here is my pre-facelift (8-port) 2x4 2.7's dyno chart - now owned by my brother in law

Branch
Freeflow
Chip
gasflowed head
Cams done
30x9.5x15 Tyres

Who says you cannot have low down torque with a 16 valve and a branch :)

Just for the sake of comparison here is my 98 Mazda 2.5 4x4DC's dyno chart before and after the fitment of the a freeflow and bigger intercooler. Still going strong 190 000 km's without any engine problems.

Tyre size was 245x75x15

Everyone driving a 4Y Donkey eat your hard out. JohanM's 4Y did 90.1HP on his Dynorun today. The Air reading temp was 31 compared to 37 (IIRC) when we did Bulldog and Louis was in that region too.

Unless it's permanent 4X4 you do not need a 4X4 rolling rig. SAC is also a good choice

I'm pleased to say I haven't done anything to the motor! the usual small stuff; branches, freeflow and change to elec fan; but nothing exciting.

In anycase is hy nou baie meer omvattend gemap.

Cassie, stupid question, if you go downhill with that idle control valve, does the motor not what to run away from and with you or do you have some kind of override?

Not a stupid question... you're on the button. The idle control valve tries to maintain 950 rpm's. So when you are going down hill and you want the engine to break you and run at 400 rpm.... good luck with that

I am going to install a switch on the dash witch I can bypass the idle control valve which will eliminate the problem.

Ek vat my trokkie Maandag vir Schalk.
Sal die Dyno hier post as ek hom terughet.

nie, nie, nie - a switch isn't nesessary as an ICV doesn't operate like that, your motor will still have the same breaking effect with or without an ICV.

If you fit a Vacuum Guage you'll see why

And here's the chart for the Hilex. We struggled to get the gearbox to stay locked below 2500rpm hence the lack of results. Non the less I can tell you this thing is AMAZING!

Magic figures there, Jonathan! Sort of helps you ease into ToyBox II a bit more easily, I guess. Weirdest part of obtaining twice as many pistons and power than you had before is the fact that the overall fuel consumption remains much the same.

I guess Barto's heart is beginning to pound with a bit of longing right now! :)

Now only Rich (who runs the 4th Chonky EFI) must Dyno his so we can see the diffs.

Louis

Where is your new dyno sheet. Did yours perform better with the engine now being more loose?
