Bogi cords
Hi guys,
I would like some advice please. I need to have the bogi cords of my lux replaced. The rubber/silicon is peeling off where the cord goes down to the spark plug (see pic) and the mechanic advised me to get a new set.
What is the best bet, genuine parts or a suitable and reliable aftermarket set? The d(st)ealers are asking R1642 for the set. I asked at Midas, they said the brand name "Bogi?" is good, approx R780 for the set.
Many thanks.

Nothing wrong with Bougi cord.

Re: Bogi cords
Bougi-cords are fine, but you must stretch the tips a bit before fitting, i use an opening circlip-pliers to open them just a bit to prevent the tips from seizing onto the spark plugs, this is a problem on all Toyotas with thin HT leads.

Interressant dat jy so sê, Allan.

Re: Bogi cords
You can get solid core lead at Gemini in JHB. They tend not to need replacement as often as carbon or graphite core leads because the inner doesnt crack due to the heat.
I bought a set about 4 years ago at a price of R120 when bougis were R650 or so. I have never had a problem with them.

Re: Bogi cords
Hi guys!
I got a new set of Bougi Cords (R465). Now I want to install them. I cannot get to the plug (marked "A") because the pipe (marked "B") is in the way.
How do I move pipe "B", does it just "push" in?
Many thanks

The big pipe that pipe B is connected to is fastened with 2 clamps, loosen them and remove the whole pipe, then you have enough room to remove the plugs. It sounds like more work, but sometimes it's easier and faster to remove some stuff to get to the stuff you really need to work on.
Cheers,
