Help needed - Removing steering box from SFA

Hi

Martin explained that I would require a special (and expensive) tool/puller to remove the power steering box from the SFA and the drag link that is attached to it.

Also, the bakkie is in my driveway and cannot turn at all, so I cannot tow it anywhere..

Anyone has such a tool, know where I can get.hire one, and can maybe help me remove the bugger?

The drag link is easy to remove, just remove the cotter pin and then unscrew the threaded cap until it is loose enough to come off the pitman arm from the steering box. removing the pitman arm from the steering box is usually where the issues come in. However you may be able to remove the steering box from the column and then take it as a unit to be fixed

Use a 4 lbw hammer and hit it on the side a few times. this should loosen the taper. Even with a puller you have to still hit it some times.

i wouldn't hit the pitman arm while the box is still in, the arm will never come out like that and you just damage the box even more.

you should be able to get the box out with the pitman arm on, once its out the put it on an anvil or big piece of metal and then hit it with a 4lbs hammer

Otto laat weet wat het gebeur en waar jy hom herstel het aub. My steeringbox lek olie en wil dit ook graag laat reg maak.

Quick update. Tried to remove the box on Saturday...no luck.

The Aircon pump is in the way and the is very little space to work with in there...so I was not up for removing the aircon pump as well, and will have to send the bakkie in...
