Vehicle preparation for overlaning trip

Post by subok »

My 2006 D4D D/C 4x4 is going for a pre-trip (CKGR) service on Thursday. It is at 180 000 km. Any special items I should ask to be checked?

I am in Jhb. Thanks for the replies - all on the list to be checked. What about wheel bearings. I did a long trip this weekend and the only way I know to check is if the rim centre gets hot, but they were all cool.
Seriously considering doing the routine maintenance myself and using a private specialist to do a check every 10000km.

Kobus, The most important parts are the wheelbearings. Chech the New SA4x4 where a guy was stranded in the Marienfluss for a week at a cost of nearly R80 000.00 for recovery. I have previously mentioned this on this FORUM...
