A friend used my Hilux to move some stuff.
He called saying the van doesn’t want to start, while driving to his house it just didn’t want to go anymore.
I went out to check it, and found that there’s no spark.
Luckily I had a spare Dizzy, which I then installed. The van fired up and all good again.
The next day after his first load he called again saying it’s doing it again.
I went out to check again, and when I tried it, it fired up just fine. (He didn’t use is again).
When I went to fetch the van yesterday, nothing. No spark.
I tested for power with ignition on, Good.
I tested for power while starting, Good.
I tried putting direct Positive from the Battery to the positive of the Dizzy, no start.
Now I’m out of ideas. Why same problem, two Dizzy’s???
Has something “popped” inside the Dizzy?
How do I test the Coil?

There is two wires into the dissy, put power onto the one and disconnect the other one, then put the power on the other wire, also with the second one disconnected.

Re: HELP ! My 4Y Electric distributer is not Firing
Thanks Hoppy.
(So you're saying disconnect both wires and put power directly from the battery to both wires coming from the Dizzy)?
I did this to only the black/red wire to the dizzy. And at no point did I ever get power on the other wire while cranking. So maybe that is the problem),
BUT. . .
Some development.
I went to go fetch the van, fiddled a little bit, but didn't want to faff around in the complex visitors parking, so I said to the vrou let's just tow it.
Hooked everything up and off we went. Obviously not content leaving it there I thought let me try push/pull starting it. And wragtag daar start sy...
So that managed to get me home. On the downhills I switched off and started with the key, and it started. At home now I switched off and still starting...
So now I'm gonna let it cool and try again. Also put the old dizzy back and I'm sure it will work too.
So what can it be though.
Maybe my Hilux is trying to tell me that she doesn't want to be lent out, or that she doesn't like moving about as much as I do?
But flipp'it man, how and why???
Now if it never happens again I'm going to live in fear for when it's gonna let me down in the middle of no where.... Grrrrr!!

When Aliens land, they leave behind a strong magnetic aura which plays havoc with distributors. I would check on the whereabouts of Ali3n, I believe he was up to something. Seriously.
