Speed limiter removal

Post by janvg »

Morning guys
Do any of you perhaps know how to remove the speed limiter on a 4.0 litre V6 Hilux?

Which wires to cut etc?

Thanks in advance.

I wonder if that bakkie has a "speed limiter" as such. The maximum RPM is probably limited by the ECU so I don't think it is a question of cutting some wires. I also doubt that you would be able to rev it to the limiter in top gear unless the engine is "suped up a bit". It would be interesting to know.

Speed limiter removal

Post by Moonunit »

I know my 2.7 Vigo hits the rev limiter at around 200km/h(on the clocks) in 5th. Had the limiter on my Lumina moved to 500km/h, this is done via the ECU, obviously can't do that speed but let's just say she is good for 300km/h.

Looked at having my 2.7 tuned and they can't do it via the ECU and have to use a piggy back or standalone system, so I am guessing you would need at least a piggy back chip to up the limiter on both revs and speedo?

My 2.7 (IFS) the limiter kick in at just over 175 km/h. Happened a few times when overtaking.

My D4D hol lat hy skeit.
