bad front brakes 01 hilux

Post by vegardoo »

Hi i have a 2001 hilux the front brakes do not take until the pedal is almost floored resulting in little to no front brakes. Both Front calipers have been overhauled and the main cylinder changed. The power brakes work. Is there a lot of bleeding needed on the 4 piston calipers?

Ideally the system should be bled by starting with the furthest slave from the master and finishing with the closest one. Don't forget to bleed the LSPV as well.

Be sure to check that the booster is working properly - getting enough vacuum, holding the vacuum (no leaks).

Easy way to check if the booster is working or not.Put your foot on the brake pedal ,start the engine .If the brake pedal moves a bit down then you know your brake booster is working. If there is no movement then you will have to check your brake booster.

Trick is with Power Brakes is to bleed the whole system out with Dot 5.1 brake fluid. The normal fluid cant stand the heat as with the higher performance temperatures the normal fluid gets like water.

Done 3 Hiluxes sofar with the same problem.
