D4D air vent selector

Post by dalkill »

my bakkies windshield air vent it not working.
when it cold window steams up and when i turn the knob to windshield only setting, it blast out full on the fce vents, but nothing out of the windshield vent. there is no setting allowing air to come out of the windshield vent.

I was trying to scratch around there this weekend. took out the radio, and dash cover around it, took off glove box. broke my back to check under driver side. This is where the selector cables run to. Can see the little black gear, turning big white gear to change vent selections, hear the flaps opening and closing somewhere down there... but just cannot see where the issue is.

I suspect it a big black box sitting behing and slightly below the vent / temp selection dails.
But eish to get that out you will have to take out the whole dash ??

Any other ideas?

Mine is also not working 100%

What i realised is that although the cables are in place and look fine, on mine, the end of the sleeve of the cable is torn. So the cable does not have sufficient tension on it. Open up the bit with the knobs and make sure the cable is siting properly around the white dials and that the ends are not frayed
