SFA Hilux with 3.0 KZ TE Exhaust question

Post by GeorgeJvR »

OK
Just replaced the Flex pipe on the Exhaust, was 57mm, with a 63mm and also some 50% of the pipe, unfortunately Francois from 4xLux didn't have stock on the down pipe, but that will come soon.

Now my question is; Is a Freeflow / silencer box a must on my KZ with manual diesel pump?
Or can 'n run a straight 63mm pipe from the 3 inch downpipe with the exeption of the flex pipe, and throw out the silencer box completely?

Saw one running like this except for the down pipe and the owner swears by it. . . .

Best bet would be to ask Roddy at Powerflow in Bellville. I also asked about not running a silencer box but he said that he would not do it.

When is redid the turbo I had it idle with just the 3 inch downpipe. It was a bit too loud for my liking. I don't know what dampening effect the rest of the piping will have. I used a "small" 63mm powerflow box with great success. Details on my downpipe thread.

I would say keep a box in, it will sound like someone gargling Mentos & Coke without it LOL
A little back compression is never a bad thing but it is only critical on 2-stroke engines as far as my knowledge goes.... not sure on the effect it would have on a diesel motor but I believe leaving it off would only make a difference if you were running a smaller diameter exhaust
