Mikem Supension Upgrade

Post by Bliksempie »

Took my bakkie yesterday to Darryl (Mikem Suspension) for a upgrade. Before I say to much, I would like to emphasise the good service received. I would recommend him to all on the forum. But hurry, cause he got a huge contract with the mines and that will keep him quite busy. :shh:

The level of expertise and friendliness was top notch. Good advice and more than satisfied with the product. The total gain on my ride height was 50mm (Front), and 20mm (Rear). Comfort also improved, as he installed a thinner blade system. Some blades on the previous kit was measured at 8mm blades, which obviously caused the bumpy ride experienced. All shackles were replaced with grease-able ones, and all bushes with poly.

He installed the Standard Gabriel Safari in front, and Gabriel Safari HDP's at the rear. Both of these are the twin tube shocks, and operates the same principle as most well known brands (which costs you double the price).

I saw some secondhand blades lying in the workshop branded Old Man Emu. There is absolute no difference, which I could see between them and those on the shelf at Darryl's shop. In a nut shell - Why spend a fortune on "names", if you could experience the same results with Mikem.

Total Costs: Way cheaper than other brands, and for personal safety reasons (My wife might read this) I can only say it's worth it.

Contact Darryl for excellent service at (011) 493 5181.

Another happy customer. I'm also still very happy with my Mikem suspension a few years down the line.

Robbie... just one word of advise though... in the picture below, slide these things of, squirt little bit of silicone in it and slide it back onto the bracket. If you don't you will loose them after a while. When the suspension flex (off road), after a while it works itself upwards and eventually fall out. Happened to mine and Darryl was so nice to give new ones.

PS: I'm referring to silicone that dries (like glue) and not silicone paste the lubricant

Good choice Robbie, he had done my IFS a few months back, what a difference. :shock2: With my bakkie being top heavy, she handles better in the corners and I have plenty more articulation off road. I fitted Bilstein shocks, heavy duty blades at the rear with extended shackles, Darrell also upgraded my torsion bars up front to carry the extra weight of the bumper and winch.
Two major factors, which is so important nowadays is great service and affordable prices.
Well done Darrell

Robbie,Het jy gekyk na jou saddles? Was dit nie nodig gewees om hulle gelyk te maak nie?

Ek prys Darrell oral waar ek gaan!

Hys n yster.

Well done again Darrell.

Darryl did my Hilux Vigo 3 months ago, complete from front to back. I must say what professional job that was. My Vigo npw stands level & higher than a normal lift kit & and it gives me a great & softer ride & also performs well off road now.
