kZTE questions

Post by sasafaris »

I recently had my 2001 Hilux 4x4 D/C serviced. 550 thousand km.
New injectors, new cam belt, new belts, turbo checked, cooling system flushed and radiator cleaned and a few other regular items replaced.
I anticipated an improved performance, and possibly a better fuel consumption.
Not so. Fuel usage noticeably higher, and performance is down.

A few years back when I changed injectors, i had the same issue and when I complained the agents sent it back, the injector folks fiddled with it and there was a difference. The folks that did the injectors now say there is no adjustment/tuning mechanism, and insist that I have the fuel pump calibrated, citing this as the cause. Since I had the pump calibrated about 60000 km ago i am not sure that this is the problem.
Any comments or suggestions?

Might be the cam timing that is one tooth out?

I did my own injectors last week with cheap tips from Autozone.they said its Denso tips.
Now i have the same problem.
Was so bad that I put some of the old ones back
I tech at Toyota told me I can do it myself as long as I use Denso tips.
Going to Autozone today to find out what the hell they sold me.
Ps.Boch quote R2000 to do the injectors.
Denso tips is R600 each.
