3.0 D4D trouble shooting

Post by GeorgeJvR »

Right people.

So the Hilux started by cutting out for a few seconds and then driving fine for a couple of hundred Kilos.
I then suspected bad electronic connections, Checked all, l replaced a suspected bad earth. all went well for some weeks.

Went to Gauteng on Sunday for a funeral on Monday,
When i saw the Dark clouds yesterday decided to leave immediately for Louis Trichardt in stead of Thuesday morning at 03:00 Am
Ended up driving in a Massive Thunder storm and small heal :frustrated:
140Km South of Polokwane She dies on me, Just cuts out an no luck getting the van running again.
If i Pump the manual pump she fires up for a second or two then dies out, even after i bypassed the UNICHIP no Success, got towed to Polokwane by a FORD

Any Suggestions where to start looking will go collect the Hilux later this week.

Definitely a diesel supply problem. My brothers D4D had a similar problem although not to the point where it stopped altogether. Did you notice more smoking of late?

What he did was to replace the whole diesel filter/bleeding pump unit (the price was surprisingly low from Toyota but I cannot remember how much now) and the problem was sorted as it was staring to loose pressure there for some reason. It would also start and run better for a short while if pumped.

Hope it is as simple as that.

Another suggestion is to have it scanned for error codes as this can quickly point you in the right direction.

Hi Guys

Turns out that someone pinched the power supply ( behind the cubbyhole close to the chip's connections) :aggresive: to the Injector module, sitting against the firewall in the engine bay passenger side.

This caused a spike that blew the module :aggresive: :aggresive: :frustrated: :aggresive:

at least she is running again.

If i do fit the chip again it will be in Pretoria / JHB :aggresive:
